Meta-design

Current Definition

Besides designing artifacts, designers also often design the tools they use to do design. This additional level of design is meta-design. System building techniques that support meta-design include "end-user modification" and "end-user programming".

I think Meta-design can also include the design process, by which a person or a community consciously makes decisions about the way they work together.
