Abstract |
HI-VISUAL distinguishes among seven types of icons: data instances, data types, primitives, panels, programs, control, and commands. Furthermore, it supports aggregation to build compound data objects (icon reconrds) as well as the aggregation of primitives to build functions with multiple, typed inputs and outputs. The communication pattern can be viewed as data flow. A scheduling mechanism is exploit to execute functions whenever all their inputs are defined. In order to do so the scheduler manages a global activation list of icons. Each program icons is either in a ready or wait state. |
